Introductions Meet our Red Wattles
This is Lucy our boss sow. Out in the pasture she is large and in charge. In this pic she is very pregnant and like all soon to be mommas she is takine every opportunity to catch a much needed nap. Lucy is a great momma. She comes from the Andrus line of Red Wattles originally bred by Ronnie Andrus of Louisiana.
And this is Janis Joplin. She combines the best qualities of her momma Lucy from the Andrus Line and her sire KMGF Moose from long time Red Wattle breeder Bud Nichols bloodlines. Janis is a wonderful mother like Lucy.
And this sleepy girl is Paprika. She is low girl in the pecking order out in the pasture so she has decided to take a nice sun and mud bath while she waits for her supper.
SPR Mary Kate This young lady is from Donna and Keith at South Pork Ranch. She is a beauty. She's had several litters now and done an amazing job with her babies.
This lovely is Myra. She comes from Clyde Grover's breeding program. She may be low momma on the piggy totem pole, but she is the gentlest girl and always ready for a good pat and a scratch.
Last but not least, our herd boar: G-man Farms Burton. Burton came home with us from the Small Farm Conference in November. He comes from breeding developed by our friend and long time Red Wattle breeder Clyde Grover. We are really excited to see the offspring from this fine boar.
New to the farm are four Andrus Line Red Wattles: Luther and his ladies: Carnie, Chynna, and Wendy. These youngsters made a cross country trip from Heritage Farms Northwest to our farm in the back on Travis' pickup truck. We are excited to have this line well represented on our farm again. This is Carnie. I'll add pics of the others as they agree to pose for a photo session.
